The Last of Us Part I - Sniper Cinematic Lighting

This is a selection of shots where Joel asks the group to escape from the sniper session.
I am the Cinematic Lighting Artist for this real-time cutscene.

Despite its brevity, this cutscene represented a lengthy creative process. I was particularly captivated by the setup of the backyard scene, with its majestic tree, streaming sun rays, and striking shadows. I collaborated extensively with our Environment Artist over several months to refine the view until the radio tower was distinctly visible. While the scene is designed to be a beautiful conclusion to the gameplay level, achieving this effect was far more complex than it appears. A big shout-out to Katherine McGinley for her meticulous attention to the environment.
